SCOPE AND OBJECTIVE
The feasibility study, which is divided into two areas, involves evaluating and mapping the technical and financial feasibility of this, before a pilot project is carried out.
Hydrogen infrastructure
Focus areas in this will be infrastructure and logistics for hydrogen production close to Inlandsbanan
The ultimate goal of the sub-project is to evaluate the possibility of establishing a green competitive hydrogen production facility at 1–3 locations along the Inlandsbanan and at the same time evaluate the possibility of building a simple, robust and price-competitive logistics solution for hydrogen using rail transport on the Inlandsbanan line and connecting.
Hydrogen rail vehicles
Focus areas in this will be hydrogen operation to replace today's existing diesel-powered railway vehicles.
The ultimate goal of the sub-project is to develop a hydrogen-powered propulsion concept for existing diesel-powered freight line locomotives and to develop a hydrogen-powered train heating trolley / power unit for electricity supply of passenger cars that are transported and / or parked on a non-electrified railway.
The feasibility study will evaluate and map technical and economic feasibility, before the design and implementation phase, for the two subprojects.
The feasibility study is a decision basis for the next project phase: design.
TIMETABLE
The feasibility study is expected to be completed on December 31, 2020.
